About Netherland
The Netherlands is a country that is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Most of it is in Western Europe, but there are also some parts in the Caribbean. More than 17 million people live there. It’s just over 41,000 square kilometres is home land.
The Netherlands or Holland: one of the most popular countries in Europe for international students. Many people think that “Holland” and “Netherlands” mean the same thing. Even within the country, you may hear locals saying “Holland” when referring to the whole country. Technically, however, that is not correct. The country as a whole is called the Netherlands. It consists of twelve provinces; two of these provinces make up the Holland region, split into North and South Holland. Rest of provinces make up Netherlands. The country is very safe for tourist, international students and local residents.

In Europe, the Netherlands was very early to adopt the Bachelor/Master system and offer degree programmes in English. This has led to one of the largest selections of courses on the continent. You can choose between plenty of Bachelors and Master Degrees at around 70 institutions of higher education.
You can also expect a large community of international students: More than 112,000 students from around the world. Around 16% of all students come from abroad - one of the highest ratios anywhere in Europe.
Many international students choose to work while pursuing their education in the Netherlands. Students may work for up to 16 hours a week with a work permit from their employer and Minimum 6 to 10 Euro per hour.
Holland offers advantageous visas for international students who want to stay and work after graduation. With the Orientation Year for Graduates Seeking Employment you can spend up to 12 Months looking for work in Holland, and you can stay as long as you have that job. You must have completed your five years of consecutive legal stay in the Netherlands with a valid resident permit or temporary stay permit on the time of applying for permanent residency (PR) of Netherlands.
